Weekly Photo Challenge – Free Spirit

ghosts

My sister, a free spirit always challenges me to be more creative and do things a bit out of the box.  We were at the park tonight playing with the camera settings and she showed me how to take “ghost” pictures.  I thought that this photo would be a fun take on the weekly photo challenge.  I didn’t have a tripod with me so I had to hold the camera very still.  I couldn’t stop laughing (and shaking) so many of the images I took lacked crispness but we had fun.  My sister, is one of the “ghosts” in the photo.

    • Hi Patricia. Thanks for the like and follow. To take “ghost” photos you need a camera that has at least some manual features (adjustable shutter speed, aperture and maybe ISO). I use a Cannon Powershot SX20. The ISO setting should be low – I used 100. The shutter speed should be slow. Your subject needs to stand in front of a light source and after you snap the picture your subject waits for about a second or so and then runs out of the picture. The shutter remains open for a few more seconds. That’s why if you have a tripod it’s best because holding the camera still is hard (especially if you’re trying not to laugh). Just experiment a bit. Have fun and hope it works! 😃
