Fleeting moments

mama and baby racoon001

The large Black Walnut that stands tall in the back garden is home to a mama raccoon and her three cubs.  I caught this peaceful moment between the mama and one of her cubs just before dusk.

  3. How serene the moment. That little one is darn right cute.

How unlike my last encounter with these notorious beasts. While sitting around my MacGregor Point Park campfire, these masked bandits whisked away marshmallows and hot dog buns from the back of my van. Gang warfare broke out in the woods as rival raccoons fought for the goods. Sounds I’d rather not hear permeated the night. I was made brave by my ever present flashlight. I really didn’t need the marshmallows, but did they?
